Staff development
We strongly encourage Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as this benefits everyone. All staff are required to have a minimum of NVQ Level 2 (or 3) in Childcare or are undertaking this qualification.
In addition, among our staff we currently have:
- 2 Staff qualified as Early Years Professionals (The highest level)
1 Member of Staff with Qualified Early Years Teacher Status - 1 Member of Staff with a Foundation Degree in Early years
In addition we provide local training for all staff on areas that affect our work;
- Safeguarding of children
Paediatric First Aid
Food Hygiene
Manual Handling
Fire Equipment Training
These are all carried out to recognised standards by appropriate providers.
Security
Security starts at the front door. Our biometric door entry system will only open for those who are known to us and there is always a member of staff on hand to monitor the main nursery entrance. No unauthorised visitors are allowed on the premises.
Children are not allowed to leave the nursery with anyone unknown to nursery staff unless previously arranged and documented by the parent and guardian. We would also require you to introduce them to us or supply a photograph at the very least. This authorised person must be over 18 years of age.
Children will not be allowed to go home with anyone who is in our opinion in an unfit state and who appears to be incapable of looking after the child. For example intoxicated in any way. In this instance one of the alternative contacts on the initial registration form will be contacted. Should these be unavailable or incapable, then it may be necessary to contact the police.
Health & Safety
No smoking is allowed in the premises or grounds.
All toys and equipment for the Nursery have been selected in compliance with British Standards and are regularly cleaned and checked by the staff.
High standards of hygiene are found all around the nursery, with particular attention to the kitchen, toilets and baby changing areas.
